More Goodreads. I just went and checked and Goodreads does have an event section. It seems to only limit to Australia for us and then sortable bu event type and date.

Thing 7. Goodreads Vs Librarything.
I had a look at these two sites and some reviews when deciding which to use. Reviews seemed pretty even. I think for some it was just a matter of which you tried first.
I did like Librarything's Your Local tab for venues and events. Some of the venues are quite out of date though, the events are interesting, nearly all from The Wheeler Centre, but good for some of those others you would not otherwise see - e.g. a booklaunch at an indian restaurant.
Despite that I went with Goodreads and am happy with them. I had a bit of trouble working out how to do a rotating bookshelf display but there are groups that help with questions like that and in the end it was quite easy.
Because people were asking me about what I'd read and I couldn't always remember, (suprise!), I was keeping a journal but it was filling fast and you had to have it with you. Since starting with Goodreads I can log on and check (handy if i am on desk).
I get email alerts re blogs from authors I'm interested in and from the groups i've joined. It gives recommendations based on your books and has various quizzes, trivia. I haven't won any ARC's yet though. I've also linked my goodreads to my facebook and twitter.http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/5689321-marie
Thing 6. Pinterest.
Right - now this should have come with a warning. IT IS ADDICTIVE!
Even for non-aspiring chefs and brides to be - IT IS ADDICTIVE!

As you may have gathered, I love it, but it eats the hours up. IT IS ADDICTIVE!

These are funny because they're TRUE.

You can create private folders (up to 3) which can't be seen publicly. You can allow sharing rights to allow someone to pin to one of your folders. You can follow pinners or individual boards. Or browse subject headings. You can also just 'like' pins which adds them to a list but not a board. You end up doing a bit of editing when boards get two big or you want to break down.add catagogies. It would be good it they let you do sub-boards. The pin below was also true but Pinterest has recently made a few changes, one of which is now it alerts to the fact you have already pinned an image to a board. Handy.
Thing 5. Flickr. I've had a flickr account since 2007 but admit I use it very spasmodically. I have more family shots on the private setting so you won't see them :)
I read that Tumbler and instragram have made severe inroads into it's popularity.

I'm in two minds about Tumbler, there's some great stuff on it but be careful with the kids, there's also porn as i found out.
I also have just tried Instagram. Kim had sent me some family photos she edited with that. It's amazingly easy to get some great results using the app. It's fun to play with and I'm sure I would once I have a smart phone.
RSS. I've created a googlereader account and subscribed to earlyword and mashable.
More on Twitter. I just don't get it. I'm just not interested in most of what's on it. I have feeds but I rarely check them. I don't obsessivley check my phone. The ones I am more interested in I RSS or get email. But it is good for a laugh!
